We all know it as that thing they made us recite every morning in school. Whether you enjoyed reciting it or not. It was posted on every bulletin board, with a patriotic border around the whole thing. You know how it goes: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". It was recited over the announcements, and we were all expected to stand, place our right hand over our hearts, and say the thing in it’s entirety, word for word.
